Suren Bayramian: “The important thing is the Homeland. It is the focal point, and we Armenians have a duty to it”
On July 6, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Egyptian-Armenian national and public figure, Dr. Suren Bayramian and his wife, correspondent for the Armenian hour of Egyptian radio Sonia Bayramian-Voskerchian.
The Minister greeted the guests and attached importance to their pro-national activities in the Diaspora and the issues on preservation of the Armenian language and identity.
The Minister presented the upcoming programs of the Ministry of Diaspora and invited Suren Bayramian to participate in the 6th Armenia-Diaspora Pan-Armenian Conference to be held in Yerevan on 18-20 September.
Suren Bayramian expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and effective conversation and added the following: “I visit Armenia with pleasure and longing every time. I come to breathe the air in the Homeland and become inspired by it. The important thing is the Homeland. It is the focal point, and we Armenians have a duty to it.”
The Egyptian-Armenian figure presented his book “Armenian Media in Egypt” (2005), which includes the list of 169 Armenian newspapers published by 61 printing houses between 1865 and 2005. The book was released in English and Arabic in 2013.
Bayramian stated that he had published his book “Armenian Literature in Egypt” (1888-2011) in 2011 and that his book “Structures of the Armenian Community in Egypt” was published this year.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the news about the community, as well as the charity programs and cultural events that the members of the community hold.
