On August 16, the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia held a teleconference with Congregate of the Mekhitarist Congregation, Supreme Archimandrite Vahan Ohanian, Archimandrite Serovbe Chamourlian and Director of the Mekhitarist Center in Armenia, Archimandrite Yeghia Kilaghbian.

The organizational issues regarding the events dedicated to 300^th anniversary of the establishment of the Mekhitarist Congregation on St. Lazar’s Island were on the agenda.

The representatives of the Ministry and the Congregation considered issues related to the organizing of several conferences and exhibitions and the event to be hosted by the Ministry of Diaspora ahead of the 175^th anniversary of the “Bazmavep” literary-social-scientific magazine. They also specified the possible timeframes for the events and the opportunities for joint implementation.

Deputy Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Srapionyan noted the invaluable role of the Mekhitarist Congregation in the preservation of the Armenian identity and the development of Armenology and assured that the events dedicated to the Congregation’s 300^th anniversary will be held at a high level. “It is necessary to present the role of the Mekhitarist Congregation to Armenians in Armenia and the Diaspora in the best way possible. In this sense, the selection of the topics for the conferences is important. We wish to publish the speeches devoted to those topics in “Bazmavep” magazine later,” Serzh Srapionyan noted.
