Participants of “Diaspora” Summer School Program developing teaching methods
Teachers of preschools and elementary schools continue to undergo training through the “Diaspora” Summer School Program of the RA Ministry of Diaspora. Host of the training course Armine Ashikyan presented the formation and development of pedagogy. Recalling renowned Armenian pedagogues along with the participants, she stated that teachers are the bearers of the system of cultural values. She also talked about the connections of teaching with folklore, cybernetics and sociology.
The teachers were also introduced to oligophrenic pedagogy, meaning teaching children with mental disorders. The methods of and problems with teaching children enrolled in inclusive education and the special approaches applied in teaching were considered. During heated discussions, the participants believed it was necessary for all schools to have a logoped, a sociologist and a psychologist.
The participants also talked about the work of a logoped with healthy children in schools, which is something that often causes parents’ discontent. There is an individual teaching plan designed for children with behavioral disorders, and it ensures their progress.
Associate Professor of the Chair of Pedagogy and Methodologies at the Armenian State Pedagogical University Julieta Gyulamiryan explained the ways and methods of distinguishing between vowels and consonants, displayed the collection of letters, posters presenting the analytical and comparative methods of teaching the alphabet and literature and more.
At the end of each lesson of the training course, the teachers learn songs designed for elementary classrooms and develop their methodologies.
