Speaker of RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan receives participants of the “Diaspora” Summer School Program

Speaker of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan hosted the participants of the “Diaspora” Summer School Program organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan was also attending the meeting.

Greeting the teachers of Armenian schools, choirmasters and dance group directors, journalists and young leaders of the Diaspora at the National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan attached importance to their visit to the homeland and to the parliament and mentioned that it is always a pleasure to meet with the participants of the summer school program every year.

The parliamentary speaker praised the initiative of the Ministry of Diaspora to implement such an educational program in the Homeland and emphasized the role of teachers of Armenian schools of the Diaspora in the great task of preserving the Armenian identity. He mentioned that the Armenian people have several issues of national concern and many programs to carry out in that direction and that the “Diaspora” Summer School Program is a successful program. The parliamentary speaker attached importance to the convergence of Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian languages through such direct contacts.

Galust Sahakyan particularly mentioned the following: “It’s safe to say that the “Diaspora” Summer School Program is a promising program that should reinforce our ideology. I thank you for being able to join us in our struggle in different countries around the world. Know that we are always by your side!”

Galust Sahakyan introduced the Diaspora Armenian guests to the “Parliamentarians against Genocides” initiative of the RA National Assembly and emphasized the role that Armenian schools and communities of the Diaspora can play in carrying out that initiative.

The Speaker of the RA National Assembly urged the teachers participating in the “Diaspora” Summer School Program to continue their pro-national mission with more love and vigor.

Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the National Assembly for the already traditional meeting. The minister also attached importance to the possibility of the convergence of Western Armenian and Eastern Armenian and the conference that is going to be devoted to that and will be held on 29-30 July.

The minister urged the participants of the program to teach their children Armenian and protect and preserve the mother language, which is the greatest guarantee for national preservation.

In the end, Speaker of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan answered questions from the participants of the “Diaspora” Summer School Program.
