Armenian music interpreted by Lebanese musicians
On July 6, the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall hosted a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding body of the Tekeyan Cultural Associations under the title “Armenian Music Performed by the Lebanese”. The concert was organized under the patronage of the Ministries of Diaspora and Culture of the Republic of Armenia and in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Lebanon.
In her welcoming remarks, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan congratulated everyone and stated the following: “Dear Lebanese and Armenians who love Lebanon, I would like to congratulate us all on this beautiful event. The teens created an even stronger bridge of friendship between the Armenians and the Lebanese. These days became the days of Lebanon in Armenia. It is my pleasure to welcome you all to Armenia. For some of you it is the homeland, while for others it is a friendly country. Welcome.”
The Minister awarded Chairman of the Lebanon Regional Committee of Tekeyan Cultural Association Vicken Assilian with the Gold Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, while Lebanese-Armenian pianist, artistic director for the “Armenian Music Performed by the Lebanese” concert Rita Assilian was awarded with a certificate of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
The concert featured performances of the works of great Armenian composers, including Komitas, Khachaturian, Babajanyan, Hovhannisyan and others by 1 Armenian teen musician and 9 Arab teen musicians, including Tamar Assilian, Makram Masoud, Clara Yazigi, Serena Salameh, Rebecca Al Bitar Ghanem, Lea Salameh, Amer Radi, Zeyna Karam, Keanna Radi and Sarah Chalitta.
Soloist Arpi Sinanyan performed Petrosyan’s “Nazank” (Grace) and Arabic music for the guests from Lebanon.
