First stage of RA Ministry of Diaspora’s “Ari Tun” Program for young Diaspora Armenians’ homeland recognition set to kick off

On June 19 at 10:30, the first stage of the 2017 “Ari Tun” Program of the RA Ministry of Diaspora for homeland recognition of young Diaspora Armenians will kick off with a solemn opening ceremony at the RA Ministry of Diaspora (Address: 3 V. Sargsyan Street, 9th floor).

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan will deliver her welcoming remarks at the event.

The first stage will be held with the participation of 163 young Armenians from 7 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Canada, Kuwait, Syria and France.

Until then, between April 10 and 20, 66 young French-Armenian boys and girls from the St. Mesrop-Arabian Armenian School of Alfortville, the Dprotsaser Armenian School of Paris and Hamazkayin School of Marseille visited Armenia to participate in the special stage of the “Ari Tun” Program along with 10 teachers.

Launched in 2009, the “Ari Tun” Program has helped organize the visits of nearly 6,601 young Diaspora Armenians from 54 countries between the years 2009 and 2016.

The two-week “Ari Tun” Program is held in eight stages, and this year the program will be held from June 18 until August 26. In 2017, the RA Ministry of Diaspora expects to receive 1,000 young Diaspora Armenians between the ages of 13 and 18.

During their 9-day stay with Armenian host families and 5-day stay at the “Ari Tun” Camp, the young Diaspora Armenians visit museums and historic and cultural sites and meet with state, public and cultural figures.

Special attention is paid to the 5-day accelerated Armenian language courses for the participants.
