Submission of applications for 2016 “Diaspora” Summer School Program has begun

To support the preservation and reinforcement of the national identity within Armenian communities of the Diaspora, raise the level of Armenian language proficiency among Diaspora Armenian youth and raise the qualifications of Armenian schoolteachers, educators, choirmasters and dance group directors, support the activities of Diaspora Armenian mass media outlets and youth organizations and the self-organization of Armenian communities, the RA Ministry of Diaspora continues to carry out the “Diaspora” Summer School Program, in association with Yerevan State University.

The “Diaspora” Summer School Program will include the following five courses:

1. Accelerated Armenian Language Course (3-30 July),

2. Training Course for Armenia Language and History Teachers and Organizers of Education (3-30 July),

3. Course for Young Leaders and Community Activists (3-16 July),

4. Training Course for Journalists (3-16 July),

5. Mastery of Armenian Songs and Dances (3-16 July).

All the courses of the 2016 “Diaspora” Summer School Program will be held in Armenian.

Certificates will be granted to participants who complete the practical work of their choice, receive a good grade of the commission and don’t have more than three absences.

Besides the theoretical and practical lessons, there will also be cultural events, visits to historic sites and sites worth seeing in Armenia, as well as meetings with state, public and cultural figures and clergymen.

First-time participants will be provided with nightly stay (with hotel numbers accommodating 3-6 people).

Diaspora Armenians who have participated in the “Diaspora” Summer School Program can participate in the course of their choice for free by attending all the lessons, but they won’t be provided with nightly stay.

Expenses for transportation from the country of residence to Yerevan and vice versa and transportation outside of classes are covered by the participants.

Participants can apply via online registration until May 31, 2016. Applicants need to click on the Register part located in the sub-section of each of the five courses in the School section of the Program’s official website at www.dss.am.
