Turkey needs to grow up: American researcher on Turkey’s denial

Researcher of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at the University of Harvard, author of several books devoted to genocides Jack Nusan Porter, continuing the article “Why Does Turkey Continue to Deny the Genocide?” recently published in the Global Post, writes the following in the same newspaper, as 1in.am reports:
“I would like to explain why I think Turkey hasn’t recognized the genocide, unlike Germany (referring to Germany’s recognition of the Holocaust-ed.).
One needs to take political psychology lessons from a psychiatrist to understand Turkey’s motives. Unfortunately, Turkey, especially its leaders, suffer from a deep low self-esteem complex as they wash the brains of their people and force them to believe all this. Germany is a strong country that knows that you have to recognize the evil first so that you can mature as a nation.
To make a long story short, Turkey needs to grow up. Unfortunately, as long as that country is following fundamental Islam more and more, the harder it becomes for the country to accept the pain of any other person.
Moreover, due to Turkey’s pressure, the United States and Israel also haven’t recognized the Armenian Genocide. So, in the same way, those countries also have some growing up to do.
The U.S. and Israel don’t need Turkey. They need to resist Turkey and pressure that country to recognize the Genocide. But first and foremost, they need to recognize it themselves.
At the end of the day, I believe the Turks, whom I love very much, will stand up and will have the leaders that they deserve.”
