Member of the central executive council of the Kurdish People’s Democratic Party Garo Paylan will be running in the upcoming Turkish parliamentary elections under the majoritarian electoral system, writes Arstakhpress, as the party’s anonymous source reports to Turkey’s Radikal.
According to the newspaper’s non-official data, among several other candidates, the PDP will also be nominating Paylan, who represents the local Armenian community. It is mentioned that the People’s Democratic Party will also be nominating co-chair of the party Selahattin Demirtash from Istanbul.
In addition to Paylan, six other figures of Armenian descent, including Murat Mehch, Filor Uluk, Diren Jevahir Shen, Fikri Chaleshi, Nvard Bakrjeoglu and Zakaria Sabunju are also running in the elections for the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and are on the list of the PDP.
It should be mentioned that another two Turkish political parties, including the ruling Justice and Development Party and the oppositional Democratic People’s Party have “candidates for nomination” of Armenian descent on their lists.
