British MP to commemorate Genocide victims on April 24 in Tsitsernakaberd

The deputy of the House of Commons of the Great Britain’s Parliament, the chair of the British group of the ArmenianBritish interparliamentary union John Whittingdale will be in Yerevan on April 24 to commemorate the Armenian Genocide. The British MP told Armenpress about it during the phone call. “Unfortunately, the period of the Armenian Genocide centenary commemoration coincides with the preliminary process of the parliamentary elections in Britain. The elections will be held two weeks after April 24. This complicates the visit of the British MPs. Though I will take part in the event to be held in Yerevan”, he said.

The deputy of the House of Commons of the Great Britain’s Parliament could not state if other officials will visit Armenia or not.“I am certain that the Ambassador of the Great Britain to Armenia will be present at the commemoration ceremony and I think that I will be the key representative, arrived from the United Kingdom”.
