The symbol of a tree-planting is life, the continuation of life and unity. The moment of planting trees symbolizes unity, and the community-wide tree-planting event organized by the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of the Armenian Diocese of Tehran at Sohanake Park brought us Armenians together once again. A symbol, that is, the symbol of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide, is what had brought us there. From now on, the alley perpetuating the memory of our numerous martyrs will have its special place in a secluded corner of that park, as Iran’s Alik Daily reports to Hayern Aysor. A hundred seedlings were planted, symbolizing the number 100. In his speech, Deputy Technical Director of the General Department of Natural Resources and Water Usage of Tehran Hagghani praised the idea of the event and mentioned that there can be a plaque on which it will be noted that this garden is dedicated to the memory of the Armenian martyrs. “Valie Faghihe” representative of the Department of Forests and Grazing Lands of Tehran Mohabat Eslam Salari also praised the event and pledged to take care of the park, urging the gathered to visit the park often and take care of the future trees. Member of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of the Armenian Diocese of Tehran Vahik Aghakyan spoke on behalf of the Committee and expressed gratitude to the corresponding bodies for providing the opportunity to organize a tree-planting ceremony on the occasion of the Centennial. He also voiced hope that the cooperation would be ongoing. At the end, each of us left a “particle” of his soul with the tree that had been planted, hoping that the seedlings would soon become bushy trees and would eternalize the memory of the martyrs.
