RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Director of Oxfam Armenia Margarita Hakobyan and correspondent for the Syrian-Armenian refugees support program Margarita Hakobjanyan.

The guests informed the minister that Oxfam Armenia, in association with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has undertaken the implementation of a new program for Syrian-Armenians in Armenia. The program envisages providing nearly 200 Syrian-Armenians with $250,000 dollars in assistance to pay apartment rents. In fact, Oxfam will be providing $160,000 dollars, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will be providing the remaining $90,000 dollars.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the program and, to ensure a higher level of efficiency, suggested presenting the program during the upcoming session of the Inter-Agency Commission on Coordination of Syrian-Armenians’ Issues.

During the meeting, the sides discussed other opportunities to strengthen cooperation in order to solve the issues concerning Syrian-Armenians.
