“Armenia is preparing for all the steps that Turkey might take”-Hayk Demoyan

All the current geopolitical developments are making many people reflect on the likelihood of recognition of the Armenian Genocide once again.

This and other issues were reflected on during a subsequent meeting with Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan at “Hayordats Tun” School of the Armenian Diocese of Russia and Nor Nakhichevan in Moscow.

During the third meeting held with the blessing of the leader of the diocese, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan and through the combined efforts of the administration of “Hayordats Tun” School and teacher of Christianity of the Armenian Apostolic Church Ashot Avetisyan, the students had the chance to ask Hayk Demoyan their questions of concern and learn about the steps and perspectives for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

The main question of concern was whether Turkey or the super powers will recognize the Armenian Genocide or not. Hayk Demoyan preferred to not give a definite answer and mentioned that the Republic of Armenia and the Diaspora are doing everything possible to achieve recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“As you know, on 28 August, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan transmitted the official invitation of RA President Serzh Sargsyan to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan to attend the Armenian Genocide Commemoration ceremony to be held in Yerevan in 2015. Armenia is preparing for all the steps that Turkey might take and isn’t excluding Erdogan’s participation in the commemoration ceremony, even his visit over the current Armenian-Turkish border,” Hayk Demoyan mentioned.

Demoyan also expressed concern over each person’s steps for recognition for the Armenian Genocide, adding that not everyone is aware of the fact that they can contribute to recognition of the Armenian Genocide by telling their foreign friends and acquaintances about it. The government is planning to publish many books, hold seminars and meetings and will be talking about the events in the months to come.

Several events devoted to recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide will be held at “Hayordats Tun” School ahead of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, reports the news department of “Hayordats Tun” School of Moscow to “Hayern Aysor”.

The students of “Hayordats Tun” School and the Armenians of Moscow will have another chance to meet with Hayk Demoyan and raise their issues of concern in October and November. Until then, they have the chance to learn about Hayk Demoyan’s books and the books published by the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute by visiting the school’s library, which will help them remember and always stand up for their claims.
