Demand for equal treatment of the works of art robbed during the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust

In a letter addressed to Member of the California Senate Diane Feinstein, chairman of the newly elected board of the Armenian Bar Association Armen Hovhannisian has called for equal treatment of the properties and works of art that were robbed from citizens during the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust in the Resolution that is being discussed in the Senate.

Last month, the House of Representatives passed a resolution depriving U.S. state and federal courts of the competence to examine cases filed for the return of works of art given for rent by other countries. The Resolution makes an exception for the return of works of art robbed during the Jewish Holocaust, but there is no such exception for the Armenian Genocide.

The Armenian Bar Association calls on the Senate to review this in order not to violate the rights of Armenian Americans and the members of other ethnic minorities.
