Discussion on Armenian Genocide at Bucerius Law School of Hamburg

As reported by the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”, a discussion on “The Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust and Other Genocides: Where Do We Draw the Line for Freedom of Speech?” was held at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany on May 5th.

The discussion was organized by the Young Public Lawyers Group of Germany and the German Society of Unified Nations under the sponsorship of the RA Embassy in Berlin and through funding provided by the RA Honorary Consul in Germany and Hessen.

Among the attendees were lawyers, representatives of public and scientific circles, as well as deputies of the Bundestag and delegates of Hamburg City Council.

The event began with welcoming remarks by RA Ambassador to Germany Vahan Hovhannisyan and Rector of Bucerius Law School, Professor Doris Kioning.

The keynote speakers were Director of the Institute of Diaspora and Genocide Studies at Rur University of Bokhumi, Doctor, Professor Mihran Dabagh; scientific worker of the Department of Law at the University of Bern, Dr. Matthias Uffer; scientific worker of the Max Plank Institute of Foreigners’ Social Rights and Nations’ Rights of Heidelberg Elif Aski and scientific worker of the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Dr. Matthias Hong.

The event was hosted by scientific worker of the Department of Law at Humboldt University of Berlin Hanna Birkenkoter.
