The exhibition will run until March 27th and is organized by the Culture, Youth and Sport Division of Athens Municipality and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Greece as part of the friendship and mutual cooperation between Athens and Yerevan.
Among those attending the opening ceremony were RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Greece Gagik Ghalachyan, envoy Minas Martikyan and the embassy’s staff, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Youth and Sports at Athens Municipality Nelly Papakhela, Deputy Mayor of Athens Sultana Spiropoulou, the municipality’s representatives for cultural affairs, representatives of other embassies, members of the Union of Armenians of Greece, representatives of Pontos-Assyrians and guests. Former President and Deputy of the Hellenic Parliament Apostolos Gaklamanis also attended the ceremony.
Zaven Sargsyan talked about the special role of architecture in Armenian culture, describing Armenians as influential producers who have created works of high taste and quality with their wit and skills. “It’s not by chance that several monuments have been preserved to this day, showing the creativity and willingness of Armenians amid the constant struggle against the elimination of all that has been created in nature.” The exhibition showcased more than 40 photos that showed viewers the samples and peculiarities of Armenian architecture as the important part of Armenian culture. The samples of the architectural monuments show the creativity and inspiration of Armenians who turn stone and materials for construction into unique works.
Armenia’s Ambassador gave welcoming remarks in which he praised the value of the photos that present Armenian culture to the Greeks.
