The tour of the student theater of Yerevan State Institute of Cinema and Theater in Prague was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Czech Republic with the support of the RA Ministry of Culture, reports the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”. The theater led by Honored Artist of Armenia, recipient of awards at international festivals and international competitions, Professor Lala Mnatsakanyan presented the play Mother by famous Czech writer, playwright Karel Chapek (1890-1938).
The student theater presented a play at the large hall of the Center for Russian Science and Culture in Prague on April 7th and another play at Disc Center in central Prague the following day. Among the attendees were several foreign diplomats, representatives of the country’s parliament and government, as well as famous Czech artists and theater fans and Czech-Armenians.
Reference: The drama Mother, which was written right before Chapek’s death and calls for an active struggle against Fascism, became the peak of the classic Czech writer’s career. The play was presented in Armenia at Yerevan State Institute of Cinema and Theater in February 2012 and was a great success. In 2012, it was presented at the Belaya Vezha International Theater Festival in Brest, Belarus and received the Sympathy of the Audience Award.
