On February 26, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Australian-Armenian public and cultural figure, Vice-Chairman of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Australia and New Zealand, Chairman of the State Committee on Minority Affairs and Chairman of the Anti-Discrimination Board Stepan Kerkyasharian.
Greeting the guest, the Minister of Diaspora attached importance to his pro-national initiatives in Armenia and longstanding activities that are devoted to the Armenian people in Australia and are aimed at preserving the Armenian identity abroad. “I am glad that you acquired citizenship of the Republic of Armenia and purchased an apartment in Yerevan and that you are also carrying out charity acts in Armenia. You continue your program to donate apartments to socially disadvantaged families in Gyumri, and this year, another needy family will receive a home. You are also carrying out wonderful programs in Australia and actively help solve community-related issues.”
Stepan Kerkyasharian extended thanks for the cordial reception and added: “We have God to thank for whatever we Armenians have, and it is our duty to help those in need with what we have.”
