Charlie Papazian: One of the most discussed Armenians in the USA and the father of home brewing

Charlie Papazian knows almost everything there is to know about making homemade beer since he has dedicated his entire life to home brewing.

Hayern Aysor, citing rusarminfo.ru, reports that Charlie Papazian, who is often referred to as a revolutionary in brewing in the United States, was born in 1949 to an Armenian family in New Jersey. The brewer’s ancestors had moved to the United States from Western Armenia.

Charlie graduated from Virginia State University with a degree in nuclear engineering. However, he brews beer and was the one who started the home brewing movement.

In 1979, Papazian founded the Brewers Association in Denver a year after U.S. President Jimmy Carter had signed a law on the entry of home brewers into the market. His book “The Complete Joy of Home Brewing” (1984) completely changed Americans’ attitude towards home brewing.

They say it was that exact book that inspired fans of home brewing in America to regulate the industry and enter the market.

In the 1980s and 1990s, home brewing became one of the major branches of small business in the United States.

In 2005, the American Brewing Company joined Papazian’s Association, making the Association become one of the world’s largest brewing organizations that still advances the interests of American home brewers.

Papazian is the founder of the Home Brewing Institute and the Great American Beer Festival (GABF), which has been held in Denver for the past 30 years.

Today, Charlie Papazian’s recipe for home brewing is a great success in the United States and other parts of the world. The ingredients of the beer are amber extract, malt extract, roasted barley, aromatic hop, etc.

Charlie Papazian also refers to a phrase that Americans often use: “Relax, don’t worry, have a homebrew”.
