Delegates of Armenian National Autonomy of Hungary visit the RA Ministry of Diaspora
On January 27, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received President of the Armenian National Autonomy of Hungary Sevan Sarkisian, Vice-President Alex Avanesian and Andranik Belozian.
Greeting the guests, Minister Hranush Hakobyan congratulated Sevak Sarkisian on being reelected President of the Armenian National Autonomy of Hungary.
She appreciated the active efforts of the Armenian community of Hungary and stated that the organization is also in charge of accomplishing the mission of properly maintaining relations between the community and the government due to the absence of an embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Hungary.
The guests expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and high appreciation. They presented their activities and asked the Minister to help disseminate information about the Chair of Armenian Studies at Peter Pazman Catholic University. Sevan Sarkisian added that the students are Hungarians and the classes are in English.
The Minister suggested engaging Armenian students, attached importance to preservation of the Armenian identity and language abroad and stated that she would like for the courses to be held in Armenian since that would make the Chair of Armenian Studies be considered full-fledged.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the current issues facing Armenians, including Armenia’s economic development, the issue of Artsakh and the issues facing Syrian-Armenians. They also discussed organizational issues and issues on future cooperation and indicated the future actions.
