RA Ministry of Diaspora holds teleconference with Armenian community of Poland

The RA Ministry of Diaspora held a teleconference with representatives of the Armenian community of Poland. Among the participants were RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland Edgar Ghazaryan; representative of the Armenian minority Edward Mier-Yendzheyovich; President of the Armenian Foundation for Culture and Heritage in Poland Jan Abgarovich; Chairperson of the Armenian National Committee of Poland Ara Sayeg; Chair of the Council of Armenian Organizations of Poland and President of the Polish-Armenian Public Committee Hrachya Boyajyan; President of the board of Armenian Foundation Martha Aksentovich-Bohosevich;  employees of the Embassy, as well as active members, artists and intellectuals of the Armenian community visiting Warsaw to participate in the teleconference.

Among the representatives of the Ministry of Diaspora were Deputy Ministers of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan and Vahagn Melikyan; Head of the Department for Armenian Communities of Europe Karen Avanesyan; Head of the Department of All-Armenian Programs Gagik Gyanjumyan; Head of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Vaghinak Vardanyan; Head of the Department of Media and Public Relations Evelina Baghdasaryan; Director of the “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival Edward Yesayants and Editor-in-Chief of Hayern Aysor electronic newspaper of the RA Ministry of Diaspora Lusine Abrahamyan.

Cordially greeting the participants of the event, Ambassador Edgar Ghazaryan attached importance to the activities being carried out with the communities in such a format, presented the programs and events dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian community of Poland and to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Poland and touched upon the events to be held in partnership with the Ministry of Diaspora.

In his turn, Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan expressed his greetings to the participants of the teleconference and presented the programs of the Ministry dedicated to the anniversaries. Srapionyan also provided details about the events to be held in Armenia and the opportunities for the participation of the members of the Polish-Armenian community. Issues on marking the major anniversaries within the scope of joint events were also discussed.

Deputy Minister Vahagn Melikyan presented the programs of the RA Ministry of Diaspora and touched upon the issue of further engagement of the Armenian community in those programs.

Head of the Department of All-Armenian Programs Gagik Gyanjumyan provided details about the “Ari Tun” Program, the “Diaspora” Summer School Program and the Pan-Armenian Awards, as well as the opportunities and need for participation of the members of the community in those programs and events.

Director of the “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival Edward Yesayants touched upon the opportunity of organizing the events dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of the Polish-Armenian community within the scope of the “We Sing Komitas” Festival.

Head of the Department of Media and Public Relations Evelina Baghdasaryan discussed the activities that are being carried out to implement the Ministry’s policy on information and the engagement of the community in the pan-Armenian information field. Baghasaryan also presented the “What are YOU doing for Karabakh?” pan-Armenian movement and called upon the Armenian community to show active participation in the movement.

The heads of Polish-Armenian structures and organizations talked about the activities that have been carried out to preserve Armenian culture and the national customs and traditions and the future actions, as well as several comprehensive programs, including conferences devoted to Armenian studies, cultural events, etc. The leaders also talked about the current issues facing the Armenian community and the community’s expectations from the Ministry of Diaspora to solve those issues.

The representatives of the Ministry of Diaspora presented the programs, paths and instruments that can be used to solve the issues facing the Armenian community of Poland.

Other issues on joint cooperation were also discussed.
