Interdepartmental commission on coordination of Syrian-Armenians’ issues holds subsequent session

On November 1, the interdepartmental commission on coordination of Syrian-Armenians’ issues held a subsequent session moderated by RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan.

Before the session, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan presented founder of the Armenian Jewelers Association of the United States Sarkis Krikor Nurian with the passport of the Republic of Armenia granted by the decree of the RA President.

Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia Christoph Bierwirth delivered a report on the support programs for Syrian-Armenians.

Deputy Head of the “State Employment Service” agency at the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Garik Sahakyan spoke about the Syrian-Armenians’ professional training and recruitment.

Deputy Head of the Department for Passports and Visas of the Police adjunct to the Government of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Hambardzumyan presented the activities carried out for Syrian-Armenians who have acquired RA citizenship and residency statuses.

Chief Architect of Yerevan Tigran Barseghyan delivered a report on the construction of homes in the “New Aleppo” district.

It was informed that the on-site geological research has been conducted and that the planning of the district is almost over. Summing up the session, the RA Minister of Diaspora mentioned that providing Syrian-Armenians with homes and jobs is one of the primary issues of concern and that everyone should be concerned about that and make their contributions, including citizens and departmental structures of Armenia, as well as Diaspora Armenian individuals and organizations.
