Aleppo’s Bethel Armenian Evangelical School shelled

On October 10 at 05:00, a missile was dropped on Bethel Armenian Evangelical School located in the Telefon Hauai district of Aleppo.

“The building of the school is quite damaged. Fortunately, we didn’t suffer any casualties. It was early in the morning, and the students hadn’t come to school yet,” Chairperson of the Council of Armenian Evangelical Churches of Syria, Rev. Harutyun Selimyan said in an interview with Hayern Aysor, adding: “My apartment is about 30 meters away from the school. I heard a missile dropped, but thought it was far from my residence. In the morning, we found out that the missile had been dropped on our school.”

Despite the shelling, classes continue at the school. “In the morning, we tried to regulate everything so that the children wouldn’t see a lot and could continue their lessons. The missile mainly damaged the school’s roof and the 12th graders’ classroom. We transferred those students to another classroom. We will start renovating the classroom in the next couple of days,” Harutyun Selimyan stated.
