RA Ministries of Diaspora and Foreign Affairs in contact with the Armenian community and Armenia’s diplomatic corps in Syria

The recent catastrophic events in Syria were devastating for the Syrian-Armenian community.

The bombing in the Armenian-populated New Village district of Aleppo left three Armenians dead (Rahel Davidian, Missak Parkev Boshkezenian, Antranig Kantarjian) and two Armenians injured (Manook Ghazarian, Hovsep Aramian).

The RA Ministry of Diaspora and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in contact with the Armenian community and Armenia’s diplomatic corps in Syria. The ministries have assessed and analyzed the situation. The airport in Aleppo is closed, the roads are dangerous. Despite all this, humanitarian assistance will be provided via Latakia, and Syrian-Armenian families in Armenia will continue to receive help.

Armenian communities of the Diaspora are raising their voices in defense and support of the Syrian-Armenians once again.

The Armenian National Committee of America reports that Armenian Americans have expressed their concerns about the attacks that are increasing in the Armenian-populated districts of Aleppo. The ANCA has called on all Armenians to address the U.S. President with the demand to put an end to the bombings against Christians and civilians in Aleppo and press Turkey to allow the free flow of the Euphrates to Syria.

Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia has also expressed his concern about the latest attacks on Aleppo during a meeting with Pope Francis I and has reminded about the challenges that the Christian communities have faced in the Middle East.
