Shnorhali and Aregak Choirs to perform in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide at New York Times Square
The Shnorhali and Aregak Choirs of New York will perform after the protest to be held at New York Times Square on April 24.
“The Knights of Vartan Organization has been traditionally organizing this highly popular event commemorating the Armenian Genocide for the past 25 years. The Holy Mass is followed by a concert that is attended by representatives of unions, societies, associations and organizations of the Armenian community, politicians from different States and U.S. Senators and Congressmen. We even invite eyewitnesses of the Armenian Genocide residing in New York,” artistic director and choirmaster of the choirs and opera singer Vagharshak Ohanyan told Hayern Aysor’s correspondent, adding that the concert will include performances of the “Hayr Mer” (Lord’s Prayer), the Armenian national anthem “Mer Hayrenik” (Our Homeland), as well as the songs “God Bless America” and “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
“The involvement of young Armenians in such events is especially encouraged since these events help them remember the issue of the Armenian Genocide and, most importantly, help them speak out about a just solution to the Armenian Cause,” Vagharshak Ohanyan concluded.
Let us also add that there will also be foreigners among the members of the choirs.
