“Hayern Aysor” newspaper staff recapping “Happy year to you, little one!” Program

In December 2015, the staff at “Hayern Aysor” newspaper of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, in association with Canada’s Horizon Weekly and YERAKOUYN newspaper, organized the “Happy year to you, little one!” charity program with the purpose of providing assistance to nearly 60 Syrian-Armenian children (1-16 years old) living in Armenia’s bordering regions, turning the fairy tale of the New Year into a reality and making the children happy.

Armenians from both Armenia and the Diaspora responded to the call to prepare gifts for the Syrian-Armenian children. Everyone shared a common desire, and that was to extend a helping hand to the children having experienced war and living in the homeland, as well as help them (or their parents) recover from the pain of remembering how they would celebrate the New Year in peace and help them create a new ?fairy tale’ of the New Year with new ?colors’ and ?shades’.

Gifts (warm clothes, toys, writing utensils) were prepared by the Armenian community of Argentina, members of the council of the regional organization of the Union of Armenians of Russia in the Republic of Adigea (Russian Federation) and Nayiri Dance Ensemble, the regional organization of the Union of Armenians of Russia in the city of Tuapse (Russian Federation), Armavir Dance Ensemble of the city of Armavir (Russian Federation), as well as several kindergartens of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan (at the initiative of the Culture and Sport Department of the administrative district) and many individuals.

The “Happy year to you, little one!” Program was another initiative of the RA Ministry of Diaspora aimed at supporting the Syrian-Armenians in Armenia and strengthening the relations between Armenia and the Diaspora.
