Uruguay to be honored with medal for Genocide recognition support
The government and people of Uruguay will be honored with a memory medal for their support to the Armenian Genocide recognition efforts, according to Tert.am, Radio Monte Carlo reports.
The Genocide Centennial Coordination Committee will confer the medal on the country’s president, Tabaré Vázquez.
Washington Beltrán Mullin, an Uruguayan political figure and journalist who headed the National Council of the Government of Uruguay in 1965 (the year when the bill to declare a day for commemorating the Armenian Genocide victims was introduced), will be granted a special award.
