Armenian Genocide recognition resolution submitted to Parliament of Ukraine
A draft law “On Recognition of the Armenian Genocide” has been submitted to the Supreme Rada of Ukraine, as Interfax news agency’s Ukrainian service reports, according to tert.am.
As posted on the official website of the Parliament of Ukraine, the draft law was submitted by self-nominated Member of Parliament Vitaly Barvinenko.
The text of the document isn’t posted on the Supreme Rada’s website for the time being.
Since 1965, the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and 21 countries have recognized the Armenian Genocide by international law, and 7 countries have partially recognized the Armenian Genocide at the level of local self-government bodies.
Turkey and Azerbaijan officially deny the Armenian Genocide.
