Turkey to participate in April 24th ceremony at Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople at ministerial level

In an interview broadcast on Turkey’s Kanal 24 television channel, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu touched upon several issues related to Armenia and the Armenians, writes ermenihaber.am.

First, Davutoglu informed that the Turkish authorities will be participating in the April 24th religious ceremony to be held at the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople at the ministerial level.

Although Davutoglu mentioned that the statements that the Armenian Diaspora is a factor that hinders Armenia’s reinforcement, the Turkish Prime Minister admitted that the Armenian Diaspora is quite a powerful force. As for the countries having passed resolutions on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, Davutoglu said those resolutions can’t be enforced.

As far as his former chief adviser Etyan Mahçupyan is concerned, the Turkish Prime Minister described him as a very intellectual person and said he resigned because of his age.

Davutoglu also reminded that a candidate of Armenian descent is also included in the pre-electoral list of the ruling Justice and Development Party in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Davutoglu also called attention to the fact that opposition parties also nominated Armenian candidates after the JDP nominated an Armenian candidate.
