The tension between Turkey and the European Union (EU) is growing due to the issue on recognition of the Armenian Genocide. This is posted on the website of Turkey’s NTV, ermenihaber.am reports.
The source particularly reports the following: “The April 12 speech by the Pope of Rome made it more likely for the European Parliament (EP) to approve the draft law on the Armenian Genocide that will be put up for voting on April 15th.”
Let us mention that the mentioned resolution envisaged “declaring April 24th as a day of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide in the European Union”.
“The European Parliament recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1987, right when Turkey had submitted an application to join the EU,” the source recalls.
