Collaboration between UN and hiring organizations helped find jobs for 150 inexperienced youth
Out of the 240 Armenian youth who have graduated from Armenian universities and lack work experience, 150 have been hired by Armenia’s leading organizations through the “Path for Promoting Youth” Program. This is what Assistant to the UN Global Development Agreement Program Arshaluys Vardanyan mentioned in an interview with “ArmenPress”. “The fourth phase of the “Path for Promoting Youth” Program (2007) is drawing to an end after it was launched on December 1, 2012. There were 800 young applicants, of which 60 were selected and are already working as interns,” said Arshaluys Vardanyan.
Based on the data provided, out of the 60 youth working as interns, 24 have already been hired by employers. When asked if the program would continue or not, Arshaluys Vardanyan said she wasn’t sure when the next phase would end since it depends on the donor organization.
The main goal of the UN Development Program’s “Path for Promoting Youth” Program is to help young job seekers by providing them with job opportunities through internships. The duration of the paid internship is six months, during which the participants receive a symbolic amount. The UN Development Program’s Armenia Office, in association with hiring organizations, is responsible for the selection and placement of 60 interns on a competitive basis.
