World’s longest rope-way “Tatevner” to introduce new services
“Tatev’s Gates” touristic zone will introduce new services in July 2013. Among them are parachute rent, mountaineering, cycling, audio-guides, and souvenir stalls.
The Director of “Tatevner” Rope Way Vahan Meliksetyan stated this at the course of the press conference held on July 1. Also Vahan Meliksetyan underlined: “The works of the people from the villages surrounding Tatev will be introduced in the souvenir stalls.” New “Tatevner” website will be introduced to the public in September 2013. Due to this, the visitors of the website will have a chance to buy tickets online.
All the income received in “Tatev’s Gates” touristic zone is directed towards the restoration of the Tatev Monastery and development of the territories surrounding it. In addition the Director of “Tatevner” Rope Way Vahan Meliksetyan noted that this will not result in the tariffs’ raise.
Wings of Tatev is a 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway between Halidzor and the Tatev monastery in Armenia. It is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in one section only.
The ropeway “Wings of Tatev” – a Guiness Book of Records entry – is located in Syunik Province, in the south of Armenia. The ropeway goes from the village Halidzor to the village Tatev. The ropeway was built particularly for getting to one of the world’s unique medieval monuments – Tatev Monastery.
