Slogan and logo (Forget-Me-Not Flower) have been selected for the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide
The slogan “I Remember and Demand” and the logo (Forget-Me-Not Flower) have been selected as the slogan and logo for all Armenians ahead of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. This is what Chief of Staff of the RA President, coordinator of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Vigen Sargsyan said during a press conference. “The slogan is specially emphasized and individualized so that every time we say the words, we remember the stories of our families and the tragedy that we Armenians experienced and present the demand that we see in this context to the whole world,” Vigen Sargsyan said in an interview with “ArmenPress”.
Vigen Sargsyan informed that the task force established by the State Commission in charge of Coordinating the Events Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide has held a contest in two stages and has also selected the symbol for the year 2015.
“The task force received dozens of works, but it approved the Forget-Me-Not Flower presented by Sharm Company. It has the same meaning in all languages, that is, to not forget. The scene of the 12 pillars of the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial is graphically portrayed in the middle of the flower,” Vigen Sargsyan mentioned, adding that it will be used throughout the year 2015.
The official said the colors represent the past, the tragedy and the present and future. “The five petals of the flower represent the five continents on which the Armenians settled, creating Armenian communities and forming the Armenian Diaspora,” Vigen Sargsyan informed.
According to Sargsyan, the Commission is working on a great program. “We’ll be witnessing exhibitions commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide and paying tribute to them at the largest and most famous squares, the mother temples and best exhibition halls in different capitals around the world for the revival of the idea that our ancestors laid at the core of the nation’s renaissance,” the Chief of Staff of the RA President added.
Vigen Sargsyan called the journalists’ attention to the fact that in 2015, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin will be classifying the victims of the Armenian Genocide as saints and will be performing the ceremony of the Blessing of Muron. “These events will be among the special events in 2015,” Vigen Sargsyan added.
The heads of the State Commission in charge of Coordinating the Events Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the regional committees established in Diaspora Armenian communities, experts from different Armenian government agencies and clergymen are participating in a broad discussion moderated by the RA President.
