Italy’s Rome Reports TV prepares report on Pope Francis’s Holy Mass dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial (video)

On April 12, Pope Francis will serve a Holy Mass dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide at St. Peter’s Basilica.
Italy’s Rome Reports TV has prepared a report ahead of the Sunday Mass, writes Artsakhpress. “It will be a day to remember,” the TV station’s journalist mentioned.
On this occasion, the TV station’s reporters talked to Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan, who voiced hope that the Holy Mass wouldn’t be politicized. According to him, just the fact that Pope Francis agreed to serve a Holy Mass says a lot.
“At the end of the day, the Armenians are still here…They have their history, which is part of world history,” Armenia’s Ambassador said.
“The Armenians have been fighting against injustice and illiteracy for 100 years. This anniversary is important for the world. It isn’t a big change for Armenians, but it is a way to tell the world the truth,” he added.
As the author of the article mentions, two years ago, Pope Francis himself described the Armenian Genocide as the first genocide of the 20th century during a meeting with leader of the Armenian Catholic Church, Patriarch Nerses Petros XIX.
According to RA Ambassador Mikayel Minasyan, history is repeating itself as we speak. “Christians in Iraq and Syria are taking the same paths that Armenians took 100 years ago. Why? It’s because governments deny the history and avoid speaking out about the truth,” said the Ambassador. As the reporter mentions, Pope Francis will officially proclaim Saint Grigor Narekatsi as a Doctor of the Church during the Holy Mass on Sunday.
