Uruguayan-Armenian youth hold Silent Demonstration for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide

On the eve of March 26, members of Armenian Youth Associations of Montevideo held an impressive Silent Demonstration near Armenian Genocide Square as they sat on the ground with red tapes tied to their mouths and attracted the attention of people passing by. Some young people handed out flyers raising awareness about the Armenian Genocide to several passers-by who showed interest and wanted to know more about the Armenian Genocide, as Garo Hekimian reports to Hayern Aysor from Uruguay.

The boys and girls held signs reading “We Support All Victims of the World”, “No to Human Rights Violations” and “Armenian Genocide: Never Again!”

Let us add that the Armenian Genocide Square is located in a special area for tourists, providing the opportunity to raise visitors’ awareness about the Armenian Cause and the Armenians’ claims. Local presses also provided coverage of the event.

The silent demonstration is the first of similar actions that will continue throughout the year.
