Russians don’t have enough information about the Armenian Genocide: Russian journalist

Russians know about the Armenian Genocide, but they don’t have enough information about it. This is what journalist for Russia’s “Russian Business Channel” TV (РБК) said in an interview with Panorama.am during the “At the Foot of Mount Ararat” international media forum.

“Of course, the Russians know about the Armenian Genocide, but I wouldn’t say they have enough information. Perhaps the reason is because Russia is currently facing serious problems that are truly in the focus of the society. Of course, Russia has a large Armenian community, which also helps shed light on the issue,” Yulia Makarova said, commenting on coverage of the Armenian Genocide.

Nevertheless, according to the journalist, the topic of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide can’t be considered trendy in Russia. The Russian television channel’s representative concluded by mentioning that the mass media discuss the issue as “a point”, if there is a certain amount of information about it.
