Fresno to host discussion on Armenian Genocide Centennial

The San Joaquin Valley Town Hall non-commercial organization, the purpose of which is to raise public awareness about certain issues through celebrities, will be hosting a discussion on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide with two clergymen, as well as a scholar an diplomat in Fresno, as The Fresno Bee reports, according to 1in.am.

The discussion entitled “Man’s Inhumanity Against Man…The Last 100 Years” will be held at Saroyan Theater on 18 March. The speakers will be executive director of the Ecumenical Office of the Armenian Church in America, Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, History Professor at Clark University Taner Akcam, RA Honorary Consul in Fresno Berge Abgarian and former rabbi Kenneth Segel. During the meeting, the speakers will discuss the Armenian Genocide and the contributions that people having been subject to inhumane treatment have made to American culture and science.

Segel will talk about the relationship between the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust.

Haigaizan hopes the discussion will serve as a good basis to understand the Armenians.

“They don’t hate the Turks. Most Armenians aren’t after taking revenge. The majority of people are ready for a peaceful solution. The most important thing is recognition.”
