Events dedicated to International Mother Language Day set to kick off

On February 20 and 21, the RA Ministry of Diaspora will hold events devoted to International Mother Language Day with the title “I Remember and Demand”.

At 12:00 on February 20, the conference on “Our Language is Our Homeland” will kick  off at the sessions hall of the chairmanship of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) at the initiative of the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the NAS RA H. Atcharyan Institute of Language.

The conference will begin with opening remarks by RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan and will be followed by a welcome speech by President of the NAS RA Radik Martirosyan.

Among the speakers will be Director of the NAS RA Hrachya Atcharyan Institute of Language Victor Katvalyan, Director of the NAS RA Manuk Abeghyan Institute of Literature Avik Isahakyan, Head of the Chair of Armenian Language of the Faculty of Armenian Philology at Yerevan State University Yuri Avetisyan and other notable scholars.

The participants will sum up the conference with a declaration.

A festive concert will be held at Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall at 18:30.

At 11:00 on February 21, employees of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, under the leadership of Minister Hranush Hakobyan, will visit Oshakan and will lay flowers near the tomb of Mesrop Mashtots.

The students of the school in Oshakan village and Syrian-Armenian children, as well asPersian, Arab and Indian students will perform near at the theological seminary of the local church.

At 12:15, the participants of the event will also visit the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) and will lay flowers near the statue of Mashtots.

Members of the Mesrop Mashtots Speech Culture Center will recite poems devoted to the Mother Language by great Armenian poets.

The bus for journalists will move from the RA Ministry of Diaspora located in the building of Erebuni Plaza Business Center (Address: 26/1 V. Sargsyan Street) at 9:40 on February 21.
