Egyptian newspaper publishes article on the ongoing genocide against the Armenians and the Battle of Avarayr

The Egyptian Uatani Net نت وطني newspaper has published an article entitled “There is no greater love than the love that is sacrificed for another” in which it is mentioned that the Armenian Apostolic and Catholic Churches will be celebrating the Barekendan holiday marking the start of the Great Lent on February 15, 2015. The newspaper writes that prior to the holiday, on February 12th, Armenians mark the day of martyrdom of St. Vardan and his friends.
As “Hayern Aysor” reports, the article provides details about the Vardanank war, as well as how St. Ghevond and Vardan the Warrior sacrificed their lives for religion and the homeland.
It should be mentioned that the article ends with how thousands of Armenians have died and have understood the importance of sacrifice to preserve the national, religious and cultural values, starting from the Battle of Avarayr in 451 and ending with the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks, genocide that continues in Azerbaijan and Karabakh to this day.
The article mentions that the Armenian people have overcome death by dying, have won wars and have gained a Homeland. The article ends with the following famous words by Armenian writer Yeghishe Charents: “Dying not knowing what you’re dying for is mortality, dying knowing what you’re dying for is immortality”.
