House where Komitas was born, remains standing-article on Turkish website
Komitas Vardapet, who is considered the founder of Armenian classical music, was born in Kutahya, and the house in which he was born has been preserved.
According to Tert.am, the Turkish Yeni Kutahya website features an article on the life of Soghomon Soghomonyan (Komitas) and stating that the house in which he was born remains standing.
The article presents biographical facts, reminding readers that Komitas compiled and wrote the musical notes for nearly 4,000 Armenian, Kurdish and Turkish folk songs and made sure those songs would reach our days.
“Throughout the 7,000 years of its existence, Kutahya has been home for many values and brilliant individuals who have helped develop cultural tourism in Kutahya. By purchasing the home of Komitas, one can turn it into a museum of music and organize events and festivals of classical music named after Komitas every year,” as posted on the website.
