Arab press: 21 countries pressure Erdogan with “the fact of the Armenian Genocide”
The biggest challenge for Erdogan in 2015 will be to call what Turkey did “Genocide”, the 100th anniversary of which will be marked in April 2015, as reported on KAFA 24 Arab website, according to “Hayern Aysor”.
“As we approach the 100th anniversary, several committees have already been established to mark the anniversary in Europe and several Arab countries, including Egypt, Lebanon and Syria. The organizing of 100th anniversary commemoration events has made the wave of denial rise higher in Turkey. On this occasion, during a meeting with Turkish Ambassadors in Ankara, Erdogan mentioned that their interested institutions must actively deny the Armenian Genocide. During the meeting, Erdogan even held a special session to formulate the strategy on the fight against the events that Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora are organizing to mark the 100th anniversary.
In spite of all this, 21 countries, as well as several international organizations like the United Nations War Crimes Commission, the Council of Europe and the World Council of Churches have officially recognized the Armenian Genocide,” the Arab press reports.
