Vladimir Putin and Serzh Sargsyan have telephone conversation over Gyumri incident

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to express once again his condolences to the relatives of the victims of the tragedy that took place in Gyumri, as well as to all Armenians.

This is what press speaker of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Peskov reported, as “Armenpress” reports, citing RIA Novosti,

“Putin expressed confidence that all necessary investigative operations would be carried out as soon as possible and that the culprits would receive the punishment that they deserve,” Peskov said. According to him, Putin also voiced hope that the Russian doctors and their Armenian colleagues would provide high-class, professional assistance to six-month old Seryozha Avetisyan, who survived that tragedy.

“The President of Russia assured his Armenian counterpart that, in case of need, Russia is ready to send a helicopter to transfer the child to Moscow for further treatment,” the Russian President’s press secretary added.

In addition, according to Peskov, during the telephone conversation, Putin and Sargsyan also discussed current issues related to Armenian-Russian relations.

The six members of the Avetisyan family were killed with gunshots around 6 a.m. on January 12, 2015. The only survivor was 6-month old Seryozha Avetisyan, who was transferred to a hospital with injuries received from stabs. There have been forensic medicine, forensic toxic-chemical and ballistic examinations. Russian border guards found the suspect while he was making an attempt to cross the Armenian-Turkish border and handed him over to the commanders of the 102nd Russian military base. Permyakov has confessed.
