The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Damascus hosted an official reception during which RA Ambassador to Syria Arshak Poladyan greeted the gathered and gave a detailed presentation of the 23 years of independence of the Republic of Armenia, praising the country’s domestic and foreign policies. Ambassador Poladyan also highly appreciated the current level of Armenian-Syrian friendly relations and attached importance to the role of the Syrian-Armenian community in reinforcing the friendly relations between the two countries. Ambassador Poladyan also expressed gratitude to all Syrian-Armenian structures and organizations for their pro-national activities, support and close collaboration, as posted on the Facebook page of Perio News.

In closing, Poladyan wished Syria peace and granted the medals and certificates of the RA Ministries of Culture and Diaspora to several representatives of the Syrian-Armenian community.

Among those attending the reception were Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Syria Fahmi Hasan, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Hasik Shammas, Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Hamed Hasan, Minister for Economy and Foreign Trade Humam al Jazairi and Minister for Nature Protection Nazira Sargis, who is of Armenian descent. Among other participants were the leaders of all Syrian-Armenian organizations, spiritual leaders, media representatives and members of non-governmental organizations, Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, as well as the leaders of political parties and non-governmental organizations.
