Lavash inscribed in UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (Video)

During the 9th session held by the Intergovernmental Committee for the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paris on November 26, it was decided to inscribe Armenia’s application “Lavash, the preparation, meaning and appearance of traditional bread as an expression of culture in Armenia” on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, reports the RA MFA press service to “Hayern Aysor”.

The application was submitted in 2013, passed all the procedural stages defined by the Convention and was approved by experts.

Thus, the fourth Armenian cultural asset was inscribed in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The application was completed by the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the RA Ministry of Culture and the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO.
