RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan begins official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has arrived in Iran at the invitation of First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Eshagh Jahangiri. After the official reception hosted at the Mehrabagh airport in Tehran, the delegation led by Prime Minister Abrahamyan headed towards the Saadabad Royal Palace where Hovik Abrahamyan and Eshagh Jahangiri met and held private talks.
As reported by the Government’s press service, Prime Minister Abrahamyan expressed gratitude to Eshagh Jahangiri for the invitation to Iran and expressed certainty that the visit would help further strengthen the relations between the two nations and would bring a new sweep to the mutually beneficial partnership.
“Today, we can state that the Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high level and continue to develop in an atmosphere of mutual confidence, brilliant evidence of which is the frequent reciprocal visits of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries. I am certain that the Armenian-Iranian cooperation will contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.
First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Eshagh Jahangiri expressed gratitude for accepting his invitation and visiting Iran and highly appreciated the current level of bilateral relations. Jahangiri mentioned that economic relations are not as high as the existing political relations and expressed confidence that Prime Minister Abrahamyan’s official visit would help reinforce economic cooperation.
Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the fact that there is great potential for the reinforcement of economic cooperation and that the countries must do everything possible to convey new air to and implement the joint projects and programs. In this context, importance was attached to the role of the inter-governmental commission, which will contribute to the implementation of the programs for cooperation.
The sides stressed once again the need for strengthening of economic relations and the development of cooperation in several sectors.
Prime Minister Abrahamyan informed that the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union will open new perspectives for Armenia’s future economic development and will provide opportunities for foreign investors.
The private talks were followed by a wide-format meeting devoted to the perspectives of cooperation in different sectors and held with the participation of members of the delegation led by the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the process of implementation and perspectives of several programs of strategic significance. In that context, importance was attached to the activities of the inter-governmental commission for implementation of specific programs once again. The sides also attached importance to cooperation in agriculture, energy, telecommunication, culture, education, emergency situations and tourism.
At the end, Prime Minister Abrahamyan officially invited Eshagh Jahangiri to Armenia.
