RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Egyptian journalists, including editor-in-chief of Masaiyya Daily, Abdelnabi Abdelfattah Saker Mahrus Elnadim and international relations researcher for Al-Vattan Daily, Al Mohamed Tarek Abdelhafez Hassan, who are on a cognitive visit to Armenia on 20-27 September. The visit is organized under the joint initiative of the RA Embassy in Egypt and the Armenian Prelacy of Cairo and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Egypt.

The minister warmly greeted the Egyptian journalists and mentioned that Armenian-Egyptian relations span millennia and continue to develop. The minister also attached importance to the role of the mass media in interstate relations and in the mutual recognition of nations.

The minister expressed confidence that the journalists would share what they saw, experienced and the information that they gained with Egyptian readers.

The journalists requested information about the programs and activities carried out by the RA Ministry of Diaspora, the Armenia-Diaspora partnership, the Armenian Genocide and the commemoration ceremonies dedicated to the Centennial and the preservation of the Armenian identity.

The sides discussed Diaspora Armenians’ investments made in Armenia’s economy, recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and elimination of the consequences, as well as issues related to development of tourism in Armenia.

The sides also addressed Turkish-Egyptian relations.

Representative of Al-Vattan Daily Al Mohamed Tarek Abdelhafez Hassan talked about the recent release of a two-volume book that includes archival materials that are located in the spiritual center of Egypt and are related to the Armenian Genocide.

Minister Hranush Hakobyan informed the guests about the results of the 5^th Armenia-Diaspora Conference and the ministry’s future actions. The minister also praised the attitude of the Egyptian people and authorities towards the Egyptian-Armenian community and wished Egypt peace and prosperity.

The guests expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and the detailed information and interpretations.

Upon their return to Cairo, the Egyptian journalists will publish articles devoted to the topics that were discussed during the meeting.
