Session of the Coordinating Body of Journalists held at the RA Ministry of Diaspora
On August 22, Session of the Coordinating Body of Journalists moderated by the President of the Coordinating Board Shahan Kantaharian , was held at the RA Ministry of Diaspora. Editor of ″California Courier″ newspaper Harut Sassounian, Chief Editor of ″Zartonk″ daily Baydzig Kaladjianand Chief Editor of ″Alik″ daily Derenik Melikian participated in the session via telecommunication network.
Greeting the participants of the session, the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, particularly stated: “I would like to state that the coordinating body of journalists is one of the most active and permanently operational structures. I assume that more concrete questions will be raised during the conference. The draft declaration-statement of the conference has been already prepared; it will be edited and sent to all the pan-Armenian structures; all the comments will be taken into consideration. This is one of those exceptional cases, where we have to rise above our internal disagreements, personal aspirations, party related attitudes and other approaches. The consultations will last till September 18. And on September 20, the declaration-statement will be adopted unanimously and with a single heart. This is one of the guarantees of our solidarity. Once again, the conference should herald that the Armenian people is solidary, consolidated and is powerful due to its unity. The consolidation that is available today both in the political and social life should be also reflected in the media and the informational sphere”.
President of the Coordinating Board Shahan Kantaharian presented the topics proposed for the session of the 7th Pan-Armenian Conference of Journalists – coverage of recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian claims in media; the main problems of purity and preservation of the knowledge of the Armenian language, and the perspectives thereof; advocacy; counterpropaganda; the problems of the information security; the trends and the perspectives of the Armenia-Diaspora partnership development.
