Day 2. Within the frameworks of “My Armenia” Festival, concert by “Lusavorich” Dprats das Choir from Istanbul was performed

On August 2, in scope of the Days of Choral Arts of the 2nd “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival, the young performers of “Lusavorich” Dprats das Choir from Istanbul led by Hakob Mamikonyan performed at Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall. The concert program was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Choir.
They performed songs by Komitas – “The National Anthem”, “The sun came out for us”, etc. Solo performed by Maral Chaghchupukchian, Lena Elmaoghlun, Shant Chakmakch; they performed “My Yerevan”, “A Palmful Land”, “Naro jan” songs, etc.
At the end of the concert, the RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora thanked the Choir on the occasion of its 85th anniversary. In his speech, he particularly stated: “If compared to the arduous path, full of hardship, of our people’s, the 85th anniversary is not a long way; however, when considering where and in what conditions was established this fabulous choir in 1929, it seems a long way. Perhaps, the founder, late Grigor Kiymiyshian couldn’t have thought that, for more than eight dozens year, it would attract the hearts of spectators by injecting an exceedingly big dose of an Armenian and the Armenian spiritual wealth”.
On behalf of the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, the Deputy Minister granted to the choragus Hakob Mamikonyan Golden Medal, the highest award of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
In his speech, Serzh Srapionyan also stated that everyone would understand what it means to perform Armenian songs by St. Komitas in Turkey, alongside of the Turkish choirs, and be awarded prizes; this means that this choir has been performing heroic work.
The Head of “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival Samvel Haroyan also greeted the choir and, on behalf of the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, granted certificate of participation in the Festival.
It should be noted that on September 6 the choir will perform at Church of Holy Cross, Van.
