RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan receives General Secretary of the Bible Society in the Arab Gulf Countries, Dr. Hrayr Jebejian

On July 15, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received General Secretary of the Bible Society in the Arab Gulf Countries, Chairman of the Board of the Bible Society in the Middle East, Dr. Hrayr Jebejian and his wife, lecturer of the Department of Philology, Sociology and Law at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, sociologist-linguist, Dr. Arda Boynerian Jebejian.

Hrayr Jebejian is a member of the Central Body of the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (UAECNE), the Armenian Evangelical Church of Eshrefieh, the Board of Trustees of Haigazian University, the National Clinic of Azunieh, the Board of Trustees of the Central Armenian Evangelical High School, the Cyprus local chapter of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and the Lebanese-Armenian Central Committee for commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Currently, Jebejian is chairman of Armis Armenian Evangelical Cultural Committee.

The RA Minister of Diaspora attached importance to Dr. Jebejian’s role in the preservation of the Armenian identity, as well as his large-scale inter-ecclesiastical activities for the reinforcement of the Diaspora.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the opportunities to make more efforts for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the importance of support to the solutions to Syrian-Armenians’ issues, as well as the preservation of Western Armenian language and the rapprochement of the classic and new Diasporas.

Taking into consideration Jebejian’s activities for the nation, the Bible Society and the community, as well as his contributions to the preservation of the purity of the Armenian language in the Diaspora, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan granted Hrayr Jebejian the “Ambassador of the Native Language” Medal.

Expressing gratitude to the RA Ministry of Diaspora, Jebejian highly appreciated the ministry’s role in the development of the Homeland-Diaspora relations and mentioned that every impetus from the Homeland is inspiring and gives Diaspora Armenians more strength and vigor. Mr. Jebedjian added: “Living abroad, we Diaspora Armenians always feel that you are attentive and generous toward us and our work. The small Armenian communities are constrained and need to be motivated.”
