Day 4: Citizens of cultural city of Gyumri received participants of the “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival with open arms…
After the visit to Haritchavank Monastery, the participants of the Days of Armenian Dance Program of the “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival were scheduled to give a concert at the Vardan Atchemyan State Dramatic Theater in Gyumri. There was a lot of commotion in the city before the concert as citizens of all ages rushed to attend the concert.
Some of the citizens said the following in interviews with “Hayern Aysor”’s correspondent: “We’ve been impatiently waiting for this day to see how Armenian children of the Diaspora will perform and what dances they have been working on, and we’ll be greeting them with our presence and rounds of applause.”
The concert began with a performance of the dance “Ov Hayots Ashkharh” by Georgia’s Jeyran Dance Ensemble. The dances were followed by performances by the singers from Folk Instruments Ensemble of Gyumri, including Murad Malkhasyan, Nvard Harutyunyan and Karen Mayilyan.
Deputy Governors of Shirak province Seyran Petrosyan and Harutyun Arshakyan, Head of the Culture Department of Shirak regional council Vachagan Vardanyan and other representatives of the regional authorities honored the event with their presence. The performances were followed by warm rounds of applause from the packed audience. In the end, Director of the “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival Samvel Haroyan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception in Gyumri and congratulated the dance ensembles on their brilliant performances.
